Automated BEAD Suspension Arrays (254)

Problem: Need automated sample preparation for multiplex biodetection

PNNL Renewable Filter Bead Trap graphic

Project Activity Scope (from Technical Overview Chart): Sensors and Devices through Instruments

PNNL Solution:

  • Prepare color-coded bead mixture with chemistries for detecting multiple pathogen signatures
  • Utilize mixture to capture & extract multiple pathogen signatures from environmental samples.
  • Apply BEADS equipment technology to process sequential samples
  • Allows automated bead handling
  • Deliver beads for analysis

Capabilities Employed to Meet Client Needs: Bead attachment chemistry; antibody development; renewable filter system development; bead handling methodologies; sample cell design for reliable bead exchange (rotating rod concept); interface requirements to multiple sensor/detection technologies.
