Project Activity Scope (from Technical Overview Chart): Mechanisms through Integrated Systems

PNNL Solution:

  • Apply renewable sensor concept for extended use applications
  • Use bead surface treatment to capture target analyte
  • Use "reporters" to indicate analyte capture
  • Automate fluidic system for independent operation
  • Develop system for practical measurement of target analyte
  • Demonstrate sensor approach is adaptable for measurement of important analytes

Capabilities Employed to Meet Client Needs: Bead attachment chemistry; antibody development; renewable filter system development; bead handling methodologies; sample bead-trap/flow-cell design for reliable bead exchange (rotating rod concept); system architecture; mesofluidics; renewable column technology; sample cell with magnetic column or rotating rod column for reliable sample exchange; interface requirements to multiple sensor/detection technologies. Integration with detection modalities (e.g., absorbance, fluorescence, electrochemical, etc.).
