Project Activity Scope (from Technical Overview Chart): Mechanisms through Sensors and Devices

PNNL Solution:

  • Use ultrasonic disruption of difficult to penetrate spore coating to provide access to internal components and biomarkers
  • Ultrasound is focused along the length of the flow path, for continuous processing
  • Technique provides fast, low consumable approach to cell lysing and allows access to DNA, proteins and other components for biosensing

Capabilities Employed to Meet Client Needs: High frequency ultrasound; DNA analysis; protein biomarker analysis, micro-fluidics; bio-chemistry; BEADS system technology.
