Project Activity Scope (from Technical Overview Chart): Instruments through Integrated Systems

PNNL Solution:

  • Assemble field-portable Raman spectrometer for non-invasive analysis of unknown chemicals
  • Establish procedure safety
  • Establish measurement method for routine use by field staff
  • Demonstrate performance for single and mixed chemical samples in a double blind test
  • Document method and test results
  • Publish results

Capabilities Employed to Meet Client Needs: Knowledge of laboratory and fieldable analytical methods and instruments for chemical analysis; knowledge of technologies for laboratory and field applications; analytical chemical analysis method development and documentation for routine use; adaptation of laboratory analytical instrumentation and methods for field use; final safety assessment of analytical method.
