Chemical and Biological Defense Sciences
Product Line Description: The Chemical and Biological Defense Sciences product line enables delivery of science, engineering, and analysis in support of chemical and biological defense (CBD) interests of DOD and other agencies of the government. Expertise associated with this product line makes it possible to develop innovative solutions to user needs with an appreciation for the unique quality of these agents and weapon systems. Those unique qualities include the requirement for chemical surety or biosafety operations; the need for selection and use of agent simulants for testing; the highly dual-use nature of the materials and infrastructure that are used to produce these weapons; and the unique status of these weapons under international law. In addition, defense against chemical and biological weapons presents materially different requirements than defense against either conventional or nuclear weapons, and is appropriately addressed by accumulation of these related activities within the CBDS product line.
