Sensor Network/Building Controls Integration (341)
Problem: Need to integrate wireless sensor networks with existing building automation systems for better building O&M
Project Activity Scope (from Technical Overview Chart): Circuits and Devices through Integrated Systems
PNNL Solution:
- Leverage knowledge of building automation system and wireless sensor network architectures and protocols
- Develop low-cost, flexible interface module to provide easy integration
- Develop user-friendly setup procedures for integration of large numbers of sensors
- Develop diagnostics to trouble shoot wireless sensor communications
Capabilities Employed to Meet Client Needs:
- Broad knowledge of specifying, selecting, installing, and configuring sensor and control devices as well as understanding communications technologies (wired and wireless) and communication standards commonly used in the building automation industry.
- Real-world testing facilities. We work with PNNL facility and operations staff to test new sensor and controls technology in our buildings. This provides real-world testing conditions and tough scrutiny.
