  • Conducted 5-year effort monitoring ecosystem status in two bays
  • Historical and current data mapped and compared through GIS
  • Assessed anthropogenic impacts
  • Provided data & understanding for prioritization of restoration projects
  • Collaborative effort with multiple agencies and universities

Capabilities Employed to Meet Client Needs (additional description): Literature search to establish historical status and impacts; evaluation of physical, chemical, biological, and hydrologic impacts of historical changes; estimate of cumulative effects; identification of ecosystem components most susceptible to human intervention; retrospective analysis of interaction between natural variability, such as climate, and human intervention; identification of goals and strategies for restoring salmon in coastal ecosystems; identification of means of assessing performance of management actions and of adapting resource management decisions based on results of monitoring.
