Electrical Grid Operator Training Resource (474)
Problem: Electrical grid operators need training for routine and abnormal event conditions to ensure reliable grid operations.
Project Activity Scope (from Electronics Technology Overview Chart): Circuits and Devices through Integrated Systems.
PNNL Solution:
- Trained operators under a variety of real and simulated grid conditions using PNNL's Electricity Infrastructure Operations Center (EIOC)
- Operators practiced utility-specific normal operations and emergency response using Remedial Action Schemes
- Utilized EIOC tools to maximize the learning experience benefits
Capabilities Employed to Meet Client Needs: High fidelity simulation using industry standard Energy Management Software (EMS) and data models, qualified instructional staff complemented with video and data playback capability, high performance computing to provide real time look and feel of grid operations.
