Problem: Need to improve man-machine interface in electric grid control centers to improve grid utilization and reliability.

PNNL Solution:
- Performed analysis of operating dispatch center workload and ergonomic factors using PNNL's Electricity Infrastructure Operations Center (EIOC)
- Developed tools for data visualization-fusion and operator/system interaction to improve operator performance
- Assessed method effectiveness in EIOC operating environment
Capabilities Employed to Meet Client Needs: High fidelity simulation using industry standard Energy Management Software (EMS) and data models to establish a realistic operational environment, expertise in human factors and human performance to assess operator performance using various tools, control center tools, and under a variety of simulated grid operating conditions.
