PNNL Solution:
- Designed battery-powered, active tag and reader.
- Designed low power circuits with integrated environmental sensors for long battery life.
- Integrated GPS for tracking.
- Demonstrated data storage and processing saving power/memory.
- Fabricated prototype units and completed successful evaluation.
Capabilities Employed to Meet Client Needs: Analog and digital circuit design and implementation; compact, low power electronic design (surface mount electronics development); sensor selection and interface design; microprocessor application with embedded software; energy efficient task scheduling; radio frequency (RF) field theory for antenna design and field propagation; compact RF antenna design; RF communication links; prototype RF telemetry module design, fabrication, and evaluation; packaging design for compact, robust deployment modules; lab testing; test planning and analysis; documentation of technical basis and results.
