PNNL Solution:

  • Develop good understanding of local and regional grid instability
  • Establish algorithms that provide mitigation guidance
  • Determine improved methods to assess grid problems and specify response actions to minimize grid system disruptions

Capabilities Employed to Meet Client Needs: Power system stability analysis; application of control theory; power system modeling; voltage stability assessment; power system simulation; application of synchronous machine theory; design and evaluation of excitation and power system stabilizer; modeling and analysis of turbine and governor; software development.
