Project Activity Scope (from Technical Overview Chart): Circuits and Devices through Integrated Systems

PNNL Solution:

  • Developed distributed system architecture (networked PCs) to automate data warehousing
  • Developed instrument interfaces to ensure unassisted data gathering
  • Developed data management software using a combination of relational databases and hierarchical file system
  • Fully meeting operational needs

Capabilities Employed to Meet Client Needs: Development of an integrated data management and automation system combining commercial off the shelf software products and in-house developed software. The development team established the requirements and the architecture for the system. Development of software to control commercial instrumentation and collect and manage raw data. Development of low cost data storage systems by leveraging commercial components to provide a very cost effective, high capacity data storage system. Large team of software developers using a wide array of development products, C, C++, Visual Basic, Sequel Server, and Perl. System assembly, validation and documentation. End-user training. System support for routine operation.
