Inventory Health Monitoring Demonstration (387)
Problem: Develop an integrated system that provides remote users accurate, real-time munitions "health status" awareness.
Project Activity Scope (from Technical Overview Chart): Circuits and Devices through Integrated Systems
PNNL Solution:
- Implemented pallet tag with onboard munitions condition threshold detection.
- Performed remote data analysis and assessment of "health status."
- Assigned munitions a condition based on weighted sensor data.
- Updated remote tag with LED indicator reflecting condition.
Capabilities Employed to Meet Client Needs: Analog and digital circuit design and implementation; compact, low power electronic design (surface mount electronics development); communication (query/response) protocols for efficient, non-colliding data exchange; sensor selection and interface design; microprocessor application with embedded software; energy efficient task scheduling; radio frequency (RF) field theory for antenna design and field propagation; compact RF antenna design; RF communication links; prototype RF telemetry module design, fabrication, and evaluation; packaging design for compact, robust deployment modules; lab testing; test planning and analysis; documentation of technical basis and results.
