PNNL Solution:
- Developed autonomous drifter probe that provides:
- Probe location with differential GPS
- On-board instruments to measure environmental parameters
- VHF telemetry for real-time data
- Ability for in-situ sample collection
- Remote operation for up to 4 weeks
- Base station data collection & display
Capabilities Employed to Meet Client Needs (additional description): Establish performance & design requirements; reviw COTS equipment optins to meet subsystem requirements; select design architecture & specify subsystems; procure & modify equipment as required to meet performance requirements & for compatibility with drifter design; develop specialized equipment to meet needs; electrical, electronic & mechanical design; fabricate/assemble subsystems & verify operation during lab tests; assemble system; verify integrated operation during field trials; deploy for project applications.
