Meshed Network Monitoring Station (386)
Problem: Need a centralized control system that identifies sensors in a self configured network and stores compiled data.
Project Activity Scope (from Technical Overview Chart): Circuits and Devices through Controls and Measurements
PNNL Solution:
- Executed unique "registration" scheme with the ability to rapidly locate numerous tags.
- Developed master tag with enhanced communications.
- Provided buffered memory for fast interfacing.
- Designed integrated data collection and storage tool.
- Designed software for data visualization and data storage.
Capabilities Employed to Meet Client Needs: Analog and digital circuit design and implementation; compact, low power electronic design (surface mount electronics development); communication (query/response) protocols for efficient, non-colliding data exchange; sensor selection and interface design; microprocessor application with embedded software; energy efficient task scheduling; radio frequency (RF) field theory for antenna design and field propagation; compact RF antenna design; RF communication links; prototype RF telemetry module design, fabrication, and evaluation; packaging design for compact, robust deployment modules; lab testing; test planning and analysis; documentation of technical basis and results.
