Meshed Networking Protocol Development (385)

Problem: Need a self-configuring sensor network that allows on command assembly of interconnections.

Project Activity Scope (from Technical Overview Chart): Circuits and Devices through Integrated Systems

PNNL Solution:

  • Determined node configuration and auto-assembled network to feed single data collection point.
  • Utilized a multi-hop algorithm to extend network data link range.
  • Minimized power consumption based upon node configuration and node power capacity status.
  • Implemented an "acknowledged message" delivery scheme.

Capabilities Employed to Meet Client Needs: Communication (query/response) protocols for efficient, non-colliding data exchange; sensor selection and interface design; microprocessor application with embedded software; energy efficient task scheduling; lab testing; test planning and analysis; documentation of technical basis and results.
