Adaptable Nuclear Pulse Processor (427)
Problem: Need adaptable, high-speed pulse processor unit to support use with various nuclear radiation detectors.
Project Activity Scope (from Technical Overview Chart): Circuits and Devices through Controls and Measurements.
PNNL Solution:
- Selected reconfigurable system-on-chip platform that integrates a microprocessor with an FPGA
- Developed high-speed pulse digitizer that operates at four times the clock frequency
- Used microprocessor to perform customizable event discrimination
Capabilities Employed to Meet Client Needs: Reconfigurable system-on-chip synthesis, hardware/software co-design, low-noise electronics design, high-speed nuclear pulse processing, low-overhead UDP data transfer, lab testing.
