Project Activity Scope (from Technical Overview Chart): Circuits and Devices

PNNL Solution:

  • Validate circuit design performance
  • Use computer aided design file to layout printed circuit board and to program fabrication equipment
  • Stuff, solder, and inspect multiple printed circuit boards (10 - 100) using rapid assembly tools (solder stencil, automated pick-n-place, solder reflow, and inspection workstations)
  • Complete circuit performance check
  • Install printed circuit boards in prototype system
  • Test and demonstrate performance

Capabilities Employed to Meet Client Needs: Printed circuit board layout design; solder mask development; printed circuit board fabrication using pick-n-place work station for surface mount technology components; manual installation of components not compatible with automated installation; solder reflow; board inspection and performance testing; board delivery for integration into project deliverables.
