Active RF Tag Summary (294)
Active Tag Background: Active tags have an on-board battery and provide the longest communication range, the capability to perform monitoring and control, initiate communications, and perform diagnostics. These tags also have the highest data bandwidth. PNNL has recently developed a new tag capability — autonomous networking — where the tags autonomously determine the best communication path.
Application Dependent Customizable Features
- Transmit power — 10mW, 100mW
- Frequency band — 308MHz, 430MHz, 915 MHz (ISM1), and 2450MHz (ISM2)
- Power management — time duration the receiver is active versus asleep
- Battery sizes can be adapted to meet application requirements.
- Encryption algorithms necessary for security applications.
