Passive RF Tag Summary (292)

Passive Tag Background:

Passive tags have no on-board battery and they provide short communication ranges (1-5 meters) with no capability to perform monitoring or control. These tags have a low data bandwidth. These tags can not initiate communications, they must be read.

Application Dependent Customizable Features:

  • Frequency band — 915MHz (ISM1) and 2450MHz (ISM2).
  • Power management — not required — there is no battery on the tags.
  • Encryption algorithms less important since tag does not transmit, it only controls reflection of RF back to reader.
