Capabilities Employed to Meet Client Needs: Capabilities varied from project to project (see individual capability pages for more detail) but often included: Optical system design or specification for optimal imaging/measurements; equipment evaluation, specification, and selection including selection of suitable resolution 2-D camera; design of mechanical and electrical components and subsystems; image acquisition board and image analysis hardware and software; for some projects, multispectral or hyperspectral data exploitation and/or multi-sensor data fusion; operational optical system development and evaluation; image processing and analysis; software engineering; development and exploitation of tools for automatic feature extraction; geographic information system (GIS) technology; land-cover and land-use analysis characterization; environmental modeling; GPS data collection and processing. statistical analysis methods; artificial neural networks and related methods; software development for system control, data acquisition, processing, and storage; system design and performance documentation; test planning and analysis; documentation of experimental design and results.
