In-situ Pipe Repairs Model graphic

Problem: Need test methods to allow cured-in-place liners for gas distribution pipe repair to meet regulatory requirements

Project Activity Scope (from Technical Overview Chart): Interaction Mechanisms through Measurement and Analysis System Applications

PNNL Solution:

  • Develop a physical model of the product along with test procedures which allowed small sample testing to replace full structure tests
  • Performed tests and analyses that validated the small sample test results for extension to full pipes
  • Developed approved standard based on the procedure

Capabilities Employed to Meet Client Needs: Mechanical modeling, test plan development, test fixture design, test method development and standards development. Wrote test procedure for ASTM F2207.
