Analysis of Temporal Image Sequences (67)

Video Image Sequence

Problem: Analyze time sequence of images (either visual or infrared) to detect and characterize transient effects

Project Activity Scope (from Technical Overview Chart): Measurement & Analysis Method Development through Measurement & Analysis System Applications

PNNL Solution:

  • Obtained time sequence of images
  • Processed images to enhance subtle low contrast image features
  • Automated processing to apply algorithms to large image data sets
  • Animated sequence of processed images to facilitate rapid visual identification and analysis of trends

Capabilities Employed to Meet Client Needs: Video or infrared 2-D cameras to record time sequence of images; data file manipulation software development for use before image processing; image processing; video presentation of sequential images to allow rapid visualization of process dynamics; experimental design; laboratory method development and evaluation; experimental documentation and formal reporting of results.
