Macro Property Measurement
Analysis of Radar Holographic Images (215)
Problem: Analyze holographic radar data to obtain near-field Radar Cross Section information (RCS) & object images showing high/low reflectance zones
Project Activity Scope (from Technical Overview Chart): Interaction Mechanisms through Measurement & Analysis System Applications
PNNL Solution:
- Radar holographic data included both amplitude & phase of detected energy
- Analyzed holographic data to compute wave fronts reflected by the object
- Computed propagation of wave fronts to desired distance for object viewing
- Calculated effective "3-D" radar images & near-field RCS at desired view points
Capabilities Employed to Meet Client Needs: Electromagnetic field theory; radio frequency (RF) field interactions with materials; RF antenna design and evaluation; RF electronics; wideband & ultra wideband radar equipment & measurement technologies; analog & digital electronics design; holographic data interpretation method development; computer software development (system control, data acquisition, data analysis); system integration, UWB transceiver development, FM/CW transceiver development, Coherent Burst transceiver development.
