Problem: Cost-effective, reliable method required for obtaining hi-resolution, multi-spectral images for civilian applications

Project Activity Scope (from Technical Overview Chart): Measurement & Analysis Method Development through Integrated Systems

PNNL Solution:

  • Determined small aircraft suitable for carrying imaging systems
  • Developed a digital imaging system using "off the shelf" hardware (high resolution thermal imaging system)
  • Demonstrated 1 hour installation into aircraft
  • Successfully performed data acquisition flights

Capabilities Employed to Meet Client Needs: sensor design, development & integration; algorithm development; software engineering; remote sensing; Geographic Information Systems (GIS); Global Positioning System (GPS).
